Consecrated at Kinson by the Provincial Prior, Maurice Percival Palfrey on 13th December
1994.
After an interval of 127 years between Templar consecrations in the County of Dorset,
the Vale of Dorset Preceptory was founded as a Daylight Preceptory, originally meeting
four times each year.
An assiduous search of the map will not find a 'Vale of Dorset' and the name could
refer to the valley of the River Stour, which rises in South Wiltshire and meanders
through Dorset, finally reaching the sea at Christchurch. This explanation geographically
covers the whole Province and also refers to the location of the mother Preceptory
of most of the founders.
Of the eighteen Founders ten, including the Founding Preceptor, were members of Sepulchre
Preceptory and Sandeman Priory No. 27 meeting at Christchurch in Hampshire, three
were from Hyde and two from All Souls'.
